Guess who is coming to dinner!
July 9, 2014
Summer is my favorite season. A highlight for me is the impromptu dinner parties with friends and family featuring a bounty of fresh vegetables and gifts from the garden. I love the conversations that take place around the table as the gentle breeze off the lake flows around us.
Recently, we were invited to a dinner at my brother -in -law’s lake house and his neighbors joined us. Conversation began about a recent watercolor portrait that the neighbor had done of my sister -in -law and my niece. Turns out that the neighbor, Steve Taylor, has an extensive watercolor portfolio. We quickly accessed his iPhone to his photos and I was amazed! I never knew that Steve painted as his hobby. The pieces that you are viewing are his work that he shared with me. The discovery of Steve’s passion for painting was the dessert of the evening. You just never know what you will discover over conversation at dinner.
“Gourmandism is one of the principal bonds of society; for it gradually draws out the spirit of fellowship which daily brings all sorts together, moulds them into a single whole, sets them talking, and rounds off the angles .”
